Bessie Pease Gutmann
Fine Art Collection

If you are wondering about the authenticity of the print, to tell if it is a chromolithograph - a type of printing used up until about the mid 1920's, you can tell by taking a magnifying glass and looking at the "dot" pattern in the lighter areas, like the wings. If the colored dots that make up the image are in a random pattern, they were probably etched by hand (very old - usually 80 years plus). If the dots are in a repeating (ruled) pattern (look at a modern magazine picture), then it is probably much less than 80 years old, and is probably not an original.
