Misc: Bessie has illustrated a baby boy enthroned in his high chair. Her shading is particularly smooth and refined in this work. In the early days of art publishing, the images were printed in a single ink color (usually sepia), and Gutmann hand colorist would add the flesh color tint. The colorists made three different versions: one with a blue blanket for boy babies (the version we've reproduced); a version with a pink blanket for girl babies, and a third "neutral" version with a yellow blanket. This is the second use of this title by the Gutmann company. The first illustration using this title was in 1913 (#162).
