Misc: This painting is characteristic of the Gutmann baby. Back in 1937 you could have gotten this print for free with your purchase of the Rose-Derry Company's KANTWET Crib Mattress. A letter that came with the print and the mattress brochure said, "We are delighted to send you the lovely print of Bessie Gutmann's famous baby picture 'Port of Dreams.' The artist's technique is so delicate and the colors so beautifully soft in this exquisite print, we feel certain it will harmonize beautifully with any color scheme you might have chosen for your baby's room."
