This was one of the few non-segregated classes, where men and women students were allowed to work together, and it is where Bessie Pease Collins met Bernhard Gutmann, who later introduced her to his brother, Hellmuth. (Note: This image should not be confused with an earlier (1918) "colonial" work of Bessie's under the same title, that featured a much older girl at the piano in a colonial style setting.)
